Bio

Niklas Sandberg (b. 1994) is a visual artist living in Helsinki, studying art education at Aalto University, with a minor in sculpture from Kyoto Seika University. In his practice, he examines things through an empathetic, humorous, and sometimes melancholic lens. His art creates a dreamworld that allows for sensitive exploration of the unknown, yet familiar. 

Sandberg primarily focuses on sculpture and painting, often reflecting on the relationship between these two mediums. In his paintings he is currently interested in adding and removing paint until finding a satisfying “humming” frequency between color fields. His sculptures are objects, inhabitants or even relics that belong to these places. Sandbergs work has been exhibited in Uppsala, Malmö, and Helsinki.
